August Bank Holiday Bumper Weekend
It hardly seems like five minutes since the club started planning this year's events and now they have come and gone and boy what a season. Guided by Chairman Mike Penn, a fantastic committee and loyal, committed members, the season has been one of the best the club has enjoyed for many a year. WDAC has received many many emails and telephone calls congratulating them on this year's success and would like to thank everyone for their contributions and support and now the planning starts for next year.... already we hear you ask?, yes, that's why Wolverhampton and District Auto Club are a credit to the AMCA, the work never really stops.
AMCA Sidecar, 2-Stroke & Veterans Championship
Monday 31st August 2009
Monday dawned and the paddock was greeted to a very squeaky voice resonant of Ruth Madoc in hi-de-hi (anyone going to own up this this or shall we just blame Nathan Palmer). Another prompt start, but with only 6 races to a block, an early finish was on the cards.

Rich Tudor flew the flag for Wolves in the 2-Stroke Championship and ended his championship on a high after finishing 10th in the final moto, his best placing so far, and 12th in the overall standings. Well done Rich.

No-one in the Sidecars from Wolves but high-flying Ste France and Lee Machin look set to take the title despite strong challenges throughout from Jamie Stevens and Scott Grahame. The Vets championship still has a round to go with Dave Livesey and Mark Hawkins both strong contenders for the title.

In the Experts, Andy Marchant missed out on top spot after a puncture in the second race, finishing three points adrift in second overall. Ste Butterworth had another good day, 6th overall for his efforts. Nate Palmer had a 9th overall, Mitch Perry an 11th and Danny Eastwood 19th, after he pulled out of race 2 not feeling too good.

Billy Bayliss maxed out in the Seniors, taking all three wins, well done Billy. Greg Walker finished 5th with Matt Maund just behind in 6th and Dave Wise in 14th.
In the Juniors, Dan Wise and Jake Hollis finished 12th and 19th respectively.

The trophy presentation was well attended with big pots and bottles of bubbly for the worthy winners. A big thanks to all the members who stayed on after the meeting to help take the track down etc etc and likewise, the riders would like to thank Mike for his generosity regarding the Monday meeting.
Wolvehampton Club Meeting
Sunday 30th August 2009
A double header saw Wolves in action for the final time this season, with a packed Sunday club meeting and Sidecar, 2-Stroke and Veterans Championship rounds on Monday.

Sunday got underway at 9.00am and the day ran swimmingly until the third block, when a spate of red flags delayed the day. The club would like to wish all those who were injured on Sunday a speedy recovery.

Well done to all the members who rode on Sunday, here's how they got on.

The MX1 Experts saw a father/son battle as Lee Bayley prepared to show newly promoted Son Dan Eastwood how to ride rough and ready in the Experts. Dan showed no mercy on the 'old timer' and finished a creditable 8th in the first and second races before crashing out in the final moto, finishing the day in 9th overall. We're sure Bayley had a few wise words of wisdom to share with the youth later on that evening.

Ste Butterworth had three good rides for 5th overall, Rich Tudor finished 12th, preparing himself the final 2-stroke Championship the following day. Rob Passmore made his debut in the MX1 Experts, riding on Cannock's Matt Davies's bike. Rob commented he loved the power but felt his arms being pulled out of his sockets on more than one occassion.
Rob also rode in the MX2 Experts ending the day in 19th with Mitch Perry not far behind in 21st. Andy Marchant was missing from the MX2 action, competing in the AMCA MX2 Championships at Condover. Andy had a mixed day with his spell of bad luck extended when he suffered a puncture in the first moto and a trip into the bushes in the third moto.

In the MX1 Seniors, Dave Wise finished 18th and Ade Blackford 25th, after a dnf in race 2. Mike Keenan had a bad day when a dnf in race 1 ended his day.

Billy Bayliss got off to a flyer in the opening MX2 Seniors race taking the win, finished 9th overall after 3 races. Matt Maund rode well for 7th overall with Greg Walker in 15th.

Stephen Coles was our only rider in the Juniors A, ending his day in 25th after a dnf in race 3. In Juniors B, Tony Fellows and Malcolm Palmer finished 16th and 25th respectively.

In the Juniors Under 18, Dan Wise had a good first race and two consistent rides thereafter for 12th with Jake Hollis in 20th after a dnf in race 1.

Sean Blackford had a great day in the Inter Juniors with a second place in race 2, just missing out on a trophy by 3 points.
Despite the late finish, members got stuck in and started preparing the track for Monday's meeting, which was re-graded and watered. As nightfall drew in, the club put on a fantastic fireworks display - a fitting end to a great day's racing.
2009 Sidecar IMBA a Roaring Success
On Sunday 24th May, Wolverhampton & District Auto Club staged one of the best International and AMCA Championship meetings seen to date.  Months of hard work and planning by the club and tireless dedication by Club Chairman Mike Penn and his crew saw riders treated to a spectacle that will be hard to top. For a full report and pics, click here.
A big well done to Melissa Griffin and driver Andy Grahame for finishing 15th in the Sidecar IMBA
Wolverhampton Club Meeting Bank Holiday Monday

Most would be forgiven for thinking that club members could breathe a sigh of relief that the IMBA and Championship meeting had gone off without a hitch, and settle down to reminisce about the day's event with a glass of wine or two. They would be wrong. Club members dug deep and started preparing for an action packed bank Holiday Monday meeting, with nine races per block on the agenda.

Monday morning dawned, overcast but dry, and practice got underway a little later than planned owing to an influx of late entries. Out of the nine races, Wolves members took home five of the overalls, a fantastic achievement and a worthy reward for all their hard work.

In the MX1 Experts, Ste Butterworth notched up a 5th overall and a third place in the final race. Rich Tudor missed the IMBA meeting, having committed to the 2 stroke championship. After a disappointing day at Rockhampton, where the meeting was cancelled after 2 blocks due to dust, Rich rode well at his home track the following day for 8th overall. Nate Palmer finished in 11th, Lee Bayley 14th and Ryan Palmer 20th. Both Ste and Nate rode in the Experts Invitation on Sunday, finishing 4th and 17th respectively.

In the MX2 Experts, Andy Marchant worked hard for three straight wins, a confidence boost after a mixed performance in the MX2 Championships, where he finished 22nd. Rob Passmore improved with each race, finishing 7th in the overall standings and 23rd in the Experts Invitation on Sunday.

Dan Eastwood had a fanastic day's racing in the MX1 Seniors, taking three out of three, after some hard fought battles with Stewart Lines and Rhys Cook. Mike Allsopp finished 9th, Ade Blackford 12th, Dave Wise 13th and Simon Lacey 26th, only completing one race.

In the MX2 Seniors, Mitch Perry took all three with ease, looking good on the table top jump. Matt Maund finished in 18th and Scott Holloway 20th, after doing 2 races only.

In the MX1 Juniors, Malk Palmer made a welcome return, scoring points in his last race. Tony Fellows did two races finishing in 18th place.

Jack Vincent took the overall in the Juniors Group A, Grant Harrison making him work hard for win. Jake Hollis finished in 21st and Charlie Geary in 27th.

Juniors Group B saw Michael Keenan max out in all three, rounding up our top 5 trophy winners. Greg Walker had two second places but missed out on a trophy this week after a poor first race.

In the Inter Juniors, Dan Wise just missed out on a trophy finishing in 4th overall with Sean Blackford in 7th and Reiss Bissker in 12th.

Well done to everyone, it was a fantastic weekend and we should all be proud of our achievements both on and off the track.

Polesworth at Stipers Hill
17th May 2009
Wolves riders made the journey to Polesworth last Sunday to a newly prepared track, which had seen 600 tonnes of soil deposited onto the track and a new drainage system implemented after the first downhill, to prevent the boggy section around the table top. The club had put a huge amount of effort into the track revamp, which was met with approval by most riders.

Unfortunately, the inclement weather took its toil throughout the day and by third block, rider numbers had diminished significantly. Nevertheless, most Wolves riders braved the elements and stayed for all three blocks.

In the MX1 Experts, Steven Butterworth had a 4th overall, with a third in his second race. Rich Tudor followed him home for 5th overall, again claiming a third in the final race. Brett Williams completed the trio with a 6th overall. Well done guys.

In the MX2 Experts, Ryan Morris had a second in the opening race and won the final race for a superb second overall. Andy Marchant did 2 laps in race 1 and that's where his day ended. At this point, not sure if it was bike trouble or not. Andy is not a fan of the mud, and with the third round of Championship upon us this coming weekend, Andy probably made the sensible choice and decided to sit this one out. Check out Andy's site later on today for the full story.

Sean Blackford and Reiss Bisseker did two out of three blocks, finishing 12th & 15th respectively, Sean getting a third in race 3.

In the Over 18 Juniors, Gregg Walker had a mixed day but pulled it back for the win in race 2, finishing 6th overall. Jenny Geary went out the first race and then called it a day, ending up in 19th place.

Jack Vincent rode well in race 2 for second place but mid table finishes in the other two races saw him finish in 10th overall. Charlie Geary went out in race 2 only, finishing 24th.

In the MX1 Seniors, Adrian Blackford did well in the opening race with a 6th place followed by two mid table finishes for 8th overall. Mitch Perry scored an 8th in race 2 and a 4th in race 3 but a dnf in race 2 left him in 11th overall.

Billy Bayliss was our only rider in the MX2 Seniors and after a dnf in race 1, scored points in races 2 & 3 for 20th overall.

Well done to everyone for braving the conditions and to Ryan Morris, our only trophy winner on the day.

I would like to apologise if I ever miss anyone out of the write-ups, If I'm not at the meeting, I use mylaps for the info and it's easy to miss the odd one or two riders, especially if you haven't got your transponder on or some info is missing, like club name.
Burton at Stenson
3rd May 2009
Burton club made a welcome return to their Stenson circuit this week and ran what was, by all accounts, a good meeting on a well prepared, well watered circuit. For some Wolves members however, it was a completely different story, where dust halted both the AMCA Championship at Bevercotes and the 2 Stroke Championship at Sproxton, after only 2 blocks of racing.

Andy Marchant made the trip to Bevercotes, despite having a 'dicky' tummy in the run up to the meeting. Dehydration got the better of Andy in both his races, where he could only manage a 24th and 26th respectively, even though Dad Bob had made him a custom water bottle to help with his fluid intake.

Rich Tudor made the long trip to Sproxton and left feeling very disappointed after dust and a very one-lined track hindered his progress in the Championship, leaving him in 18th overall. Let's hope this weekend's outing to Shobdon for the third round, a track which Rich enjoys riding, sees him pick up some valuable points.

Some close racing in the Experts Unlimited at Stenson, which saw Nathan Palmer finish the day in 12th place, with just 5 points separating him from 7th place. Brett Williams came in 15th overall, followed by Ryan Palmer in 20th and Rob Passmore in 22nd.

Matt Maund made it on to the transponder score sheet this week in the MX2 Seniors but a dnf in the last race saw him end the day in 18th position. In the MX1 Seniors, Mike Allsopp took first overall, after a nail biting final moto with Stuart Lines and Rhys Cook, all taking a race win apiece. Well done Mike! Dave Wise ended the day in 13th closely followed by Ade Blackford in 14th. Mike Penn pulled off early in race 2, mechanical problems to blame, leaving him in 16th overall.

In the MX2 Juniors Over 18, Gregg Walker missed out on a trophy after a dnf in race 2 left him in 9th overall. Jenny Geary had three consistent rides for 14th overall. Jack Vincent also missed out on a trophy in the MX2 Juniors Under 18, after trouble in his last race left him 7th overall. Jake Hollis scored points in each race to finish in 21st.

Reiss Bisseker had a good day in the Inter Juniors, finishing 9th with Dan Wise watching from sidelines on crutches, after last week's crash left him with torn ligaments.

As always, well done to our trophy winners, especially Mike Allsopp for putting one over Linesey (he knows we're only joking).

Acorns at Sandbach
26th April 2009
A strong contingent of Wolves riders headed north to Sandbach Raceway for Acorn's opening meeting of the season, which also saw them host the opening round of the superb Vets & 2 Stroke Championship. Riders commented that some of the jumps could have done with reshaping but other than that, track preparation was spot on, with a lot of effort put into watering.

The Vets started the day and, although there was no representative from Wolves, there was some fantastic racing with Teme Valley's Dave Livesey taking the overall, missing out on maximum points by deciding to don his 4t for his 2t machine in the second race. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions on that one.

Rich Tudor flew the flag for Wolves in the 2 Stroke Championship, having his best ride of the day in race 2, where a series of strong passes saw him finish in 11th place. Rich ended the day in 15th overall but with only a few points separating him from 10th place, Rich is hopeful that some good rides should see him inside the top ten. Good luck for Sunday, which sees Oakham host the second round of the Championship at their Sproxton Circuit.

Brett Williams had a good day in the Experts Unlimited class, finishing 10th in the overall standings. Nathan Palmer was not far behind in 13th, a hand injury picked up a Mallory a few weeks ago, holding him back a little. Rob Passmore improved as the day progressed, finishing 9th in his last race and 15th on the final score sheet. Lee Bayley and Ryan Palmer 'tangled' with each other throughout the day, with Warwick Upton thrown into the mix just to spice it up a little, the pair finishing in 19th and 21st respectively.

Mick Allsopp jumped up the score sheet with a 3rd in the MX1 Seniors after the frontrunners crashed out big style at the end of the second race. Who said racing was fair? Adrian Blackford just missed out on the top ten with an 11th overall. Dan Eastwood started each race as a man on a mission, leading all three, but unfortunately his asthma kicked in, putting him out of the running. Bad luck Dan. Mike Penn had two consistent rides for 16th overall. Last but by no means least was Dave 'wizza' Wise, whose day was cut short after Dan had a nasty off in his second race in the Inters. Get well soon Dan.

Jack Vincent was our sole representative in the Juniors Unlimited Group One, finishing a creditable 5th overall. Over in Group Two, Gregg Walker nipped in to take 3rd overall, pipping 4th place to the chequered flag in the final moto, both ending the day on the same points. Mike Keenan had two strong second placings but a no points score in the final moto relegated him to 7th. Jake Hollis upped his game in the final race with a 13th place finish, ending the day in 20th place.

Sean Blackford just missed out on a top five finish in the Inter Juniors by a mere 4 points, but a good day's racing nevertheless saw him 6th in the overall standings.

Andy Marchant represented Wolves at the opening round of the MX2 Championships at Culham, but a dnf in race 1, a red flag in race 2 and an off in race 3, saw Andy end the day in a disappointing (his words not mine) 34th position. Despite his run of bad luck, Andy will almost certainly bounce back and get the results we all know he is capable of. Good luck for Sunday at the 2nd round of Championship, where Ollerton will be the hosts at their Bevercotes track.

All in all, a good day for Wolves riders and a big well done to our trophy winners.
Midland Social at Airfield Farm
19th April 2009
A handful of Wolverhampton members made the trek to Airfield Farm last Sunday, with many opting to go practicing or stay at home and watch the Chinese Grand Prix.

Brett Williams flew the flag for Wolves in the MX1 Experts, recording a 12th in race 1 and a 10th in race 2. A DNF in the final race however, saw Brett finish the day in 15th overall, although we are not sure if Brett suffered bike problems, had an accident or simply went home early, Brett if you are reading, let us know.

Mike Allsopp and Dave Wise contested the Seniors with Mike scoring points in races 1 & 2 but again a DNF in race 3, finishing 16th overall the day. Dave Wise finished all three, improving as the day progressed, to finish in 17th.

Greg Walker made a good start to his day, posting a 3rd in the opening race of the MX1 Juniors/MX2 Juniors O18 combined class, but a 14th in race 2 and 16th in race 3 left him 12th in the overall standings.

Our Inter Junior riders, Dan Wise and Sean Blackford both had a good day's riding. Dan had runner up spots in the first two races culminating in a win in the final moto for second overall. Well done Dan. Sean improved with each race, his best result a 5th in the final race, taking 6th overall.

Melissa Griffin, passenger to Andy Grahame, competed in the second round of the Sidecar Championships. Two fifths and a 6th saw the pair end the day in 5th overall, battling against strong competition from the likes of Bradford, France and Lines.

Well done to everyone who made the effort. With Acorns at Sandbach the venue for this weekend's meeting, a popular track by all accounts, we should see a strong turnout from the Wolverhampton Club and hopefully, some good results.
