Welcome to my site

Hi. My name is Mathilde Tighe (everyone calls me Tilde) and I have started racing Quad Enduro. I was 8 in January. I have a Apache 100cc 2 stroke water cooled quad which is much faster than my old 50cc and a bit more my size. I have started racing with Wyre Forest Off-Road who put on some brilliant Youth Quad races and have been very lucky to get loads of help from lots of people to help get me started. Keep checking back for updates!

Big Weekend at the end of May

With two race meetings scheduled for the end of May eight-year old Tilde Tighe was looking forward to the second and third races of her career in quad enduro.

Riding her KP Equipe/Putoline Apache 100cc Auto, in standard spec, the youngster displayed a calm attitude before each race and dogged determination during.

A big thanks to Ryan Austin of ProPrinting for the fantastic job he did on the new graphics for the quad.

Many thanks to KP Equipe, Putoline, Apache Quads, JW Racing, Thor, CMX, Alpine Stars, CMX, ProPrinting, Rip n Roll, Marchant MX, Foto-x and UKXC Magazine whose support is very much appreciated

WFOR/IOPD Usk

WFOR’s meeting at Usk, on Saturday 30th May, boasted a 7.5 mile course which was quite a challenge for all the youngsters but Tilde display a tough ‘never quit’ attitude which saw her rewarded with a fourth place trophy in the 100cc Auto Quads (Under 10) despite flooding the filter at a water splash and restarting the quad over 40 times during her final lap. Even though marshals urged her to call it a day, she refused and made it to the chequered flag.
True Grit!

DQR. Howie

Sunday saw Tilde racing for the first time with Dragon Quads at Howie near Llandrindod Wells. The MX practice track, plus woodland sections, was very intimidating but once again the youngster took it in her stride and had her best start to date with second place just behind the leader.

Refusing to take the easy sections, which avoided the steeper hills, she

battled on for 90 minutes, clocking up 9 laps and taking fifth place in the Under 10 Autos.

On this fast, hard and steep course, which saw many quads DNF and quite a few younger riders quit, Tilde showed she has what it takes to ride Enduro.
Determination

First Race. WFOR 25.04.09

The day of my first race finally came and there were plenty of nerves, from my Mom & Dad, not me!

Wyre Forest Off Road had put on an excellent meeting at Coney Green Farm and laid out their toughest track ever. There were some very big up and downhill sections that were used in the GBXC event a few weeks ago and the lap was just over 5 miles long, it was going to be tough but I thought I could finish, which is the important bit for my first race.

I was last off the line but a kind marshal followed me, just in case, as I set out on my first lap. The course was tougher than I expected and I was glad to see my Dad in the pits at the end of the first lap. I had a drink, complained a bit and set off for another go.

By the end of my second lap I was very tired but when my Dad told me I had already done 10 miles, I immediately set out for my third and final lap. It was tough but I finished and thought I had done ok for my first race 7th in class. I think i can go much faster next time, now I have a bit more confidence.

A very big thanks to all the people who have supported me: Keith from KP Equipe, Apache Quads, Andy Marchant from Team Marchant MX, Jason from JW Racing, Craig from Chamberlain MX, Ryan Austin for my fantastic graphics, Derrick from Edmondson Racing, Wayne from Feehily MX, Steve Ireland for letting me practice at his events and Fast Eddy for his good advice.

An especially big thanks to Rob Garbett at WFOR and the marshalls who looked after me. Thanks also to all my fellow competitors who wished me good luck, I hope I didn't hold you up too much, and thanks also to the other parents who supported me during the race, it really helped push me on.

Down in the dirt at Baden Hall

Got a really good training session at Baden Hall last week. WOR Events' Steve Ireland let me practice at a RED (Race Experience day) .

Although it was only for solos, he let me use a small part of the woodland on my own and then once the day was over, the whole course, to get some time on my quad. Thanks Steve xxx. It was a great place and my Apache quad was flying!

My Dad has fitted Renthal bars and hand protectors and I'm hoping to have new plastics (red) in the next couple of weeks. The black plastics are getting a bit tatty but they are ok for training with.

Thanks also to Andy Marchant for my new Fox helmet, very cool. xxx

Dirt Bike Show

We all had a great time at the Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh. I talked to British Quad Champion Paul Winrow and got a few tips.

I hope I can meet up with him for a training session before next season.

Jacob and I also met Charlie Boorman (right). He is very cool and we loved his shows, By Any Means, Long Way Round and Long Way Down.

I saw some very cool stuff and came home with a new pair of Alpinestars Tech 4S boots and a set of Oakley O Frame goggles to go with my new Thor kit. Can't wait to try them out.

A very special Thank You to my main sponsor who I managed to thank in person at the show
