Stratford Pyramids at Weatheroak Hill

Stratford Pyramids ran their penultimate event of the season on Bank Holiday Sunday at their popular Weatheroak Hill track. Despite a wet start to the day, where most vehicles had a helping hand on to the paddock, fine weather for the most saw the track dry out making for some exciting racing.

Both late and double entries bulked out the gates with the majority in the Seniors and Experts.  Racing was fast and very close across many of the groups, with only two riders winning all three races, in the MX1 Experts and Inter Juniors respectively. Practice was a muddy affair, where it was a case of who could stay on the bike the longest as an off camber hairpin bend caught out the majority of riders.

In the MX1 Experts, home rider Simon White was on top form as he took all three wins convincingly.  Worcester’s Martin Strawford put in three solid rides for second overall with Adrian Deeley just a point behind in third after losing valuable points in the second moto.

Chad Yarranton beat off stiff competition in the MX2 Experts to take the overall.  Second place went to a very determined Jamie Wilson, who took the win in opening race in style but lost out to Yarranton in the final two.

Samuel Kirby took third after loosing valuable points in the first race after he stalled in rut, got crashed into by two bikes then spent a lap trying to restart.

Despite not winning a race, consistency paid off for Marcus Surridge, as he took the overall in the MX1 Seniors, just two points ahead of Lee Huckerby, who won the opening moto.

Conor Passey nipped in to take third despite a no points score in his second race.

Racing was close in the MX2 Seniors, with the overall honours going to Ben Morgan whose 1st and 2nd place finishes earned him enough for the top spot.

Rob Shelton took second with a win in the final moto under his belt, with third going to Tom white.

In the MX1 Juniors, James Barrington and Andrew Roberts both contested the top spot but a race win the final moto saw Barrington take the overall with Roberts a close second.  Mark Hancocks took the final podium place.

Worcester’s Daniel Urbain clinched first place in the MX2 Juniors Over 18 with a win in his final race, despite tying on points with second place John Kautzner.

Nick Woodward pulled a great holeshot in his final race and had two solid second place finishes to secure third overall.

In the MX2 Juniors Under 18, Dudley White posted a 1-2-1 scorecard for the overall with Lewis Pearsall in second and Joe Turner just a point behind in third, despite taking the win in the second moto.

Ben Hodgkins was in great form maxing out in style in the Inter Juniors.  Sam Clark and James Porter battled hard for the runner up spot, the honours going to Clark as he nipped in to take second in the final moto, relegating Porter to third.

A good meeting by the Pyramids despite a few hold ups as the lap scoring ladies got to grips with a mass of double entries and duplicate numbers, causing some confusion over points scoring.
