This page is intended for your benefit, whether you are brand new to the sport and thinking about taking up MX, or you have been riding a while and have become a bit stagnant and feel you need a bit of direction or advice (or if you are an Expert don't read this as I don't want you nicking ideas off me). This page is interactive, you ask me stuff and I'll tell you what I know. There are no stupid questions, I'll try to answer them all and save you wasting a lot of money in the process because, as you know, this is an expensive sport and you want to make sure you get what you need and not what the magazines say you need.

| Q. How do you stop yourself from getting blisters? |
A. There are several ways to prevent blisters from troubling your racing:
|
| |
- Change gloves frequently (if you can, wear a different pair of gloves for every race per meeting, if not, let gloves dry thoroughly before re-using).
- On hot days, you can always use talcum powder to absorb sweat build up in your gloves.
- An old wives tales (never tried it myself mind) is to urinate onto your hands. This supposedely hardens the skin on the palms of your hands.

| Q. How do you prevent your arms from pumping up? |
A. Again, there are several ways to prevent arm pump: |
| |
- Your arms pump up due to the fact that your legs get tired, so you use your legs to ride your bike rather than sitting down and letting your arms do all the work. Your legs should be the strongest part of your physique (so get down the gym).
- Try to relax and let the bike do the work opposed to you.
- You could try using herbal remedies, such as deep heat or muscle rub, which warms up the muscles in your forearms, making them relax.
- In a recent experience I have had, I was getting arm cramps due to drinking protein drinks before racing. Since I have stopped using these products, the arm cramps have subsided. So, be careful of what you drink.
