The Marchantmx Team arrived at the Hobs Hole Circuit, I can be honest and say it is a track that I am a big fan of. My aims for the day were to set a good pace and push hard all through the race and also to double enter into the MX1 Experts to get a little more bike time and fitness.
It was time for practice and, as I rode around the Hobs Hole Circuit, I found out the adjustments that the Walsall Club had made as I was thrown into the air and then came back down to earth with a thud over every jump on the Circuit but the table top. I continued the practice just trying to find a good rhythm and looked for future lines.
Race One
The gate dropped and we were off. I got into turn one in the top 3 but the first turn on the track is probably the worst in Britain. I lost some time and dropped behind Craig Chamberlain in 5th position. We all battled; me, Chamberlain and Reed. I passed Clamberlain and put pressure on Reed and at the halfway point I made a mistake and clipped Reed in a corner and hit the deck. I quickly remounted back behind Chamberlain but there was a few seconds gap so I pushed hard and closed them back. I took Reed around the pylon corner and I pushed hard behind Chamberlain but in my focus It was too little too late and ended in 2nd position.
Race Two
I got off to a good start in 2nd behind Chamberlian, But I had Fish and Slesser on my case I pushed with Chamberlian but Fish put the extra horsepower to his advantage and passed me and Chamberlian, then Chamberlian made a big mistake and I continued to push behind Fish but Slesser made a pass on me, but I kept focussed and made a pass on Slesser and started to close the gap on Fish. By the end of the race I had closed the gap to a few seconds and took the win MX2 Expert.
Race Three
It was all down too the last race between me and Chamberlian so a good start was needed but, with heavy rain just before the race, the track looked a little tricky. Both me and Chamberlian both got of to good start so with Fishy and Slesser out of the way me and Chamberlian battled hard through the race and I put a lot of pressure on him but with the track conditions still tricky it was hard to pass and Chamberlian was trying out some old-school moves to get a mistake, but I have been racing for a long enough time to not fall for them so I tested the line that I would make the pass and I did and it was clean on the last lap. It was close at the finish but I took the win and the overall on the day.
A good day overall and another 1st overall so It couldn't have been better
