Well you can look at the bikes, and you can look at the gear. You may possibly buy them.
You can look at the fastest guys on the track and look at the most fantastic pictures or videos. You may ride like that one day……possibly.
Here at Gordons Racing we believe in reality. You will use one of these places if you are a serious moto-crosser and so this is it…….The serious moto-crossers guide to HOSPITALS. |
North Staffs (Stoke) |
Probably the best casualty set up we have seen and by far the quickest service. Of course this gives you confidence that they know what they are doing….another nice change. People with the casualty are also catered for and a full range of medical services are on site and ready for use. Most Hospitals could benefit from using this place as a role model, it’s a definite contender for leader and if you get the choice…well worth a visit!

A firm family favourite, friendly staff and not easily phased, which was proven when staff cut off Ryan’s trousers and pulled his pants to one side when he was in a morphine induced coma. Fortunately this was at staff shift time for maximum impact. Unfortunately Ryan did not score maximum points due to a cold draft. Just watch out for serious cost savings like forgetting to put pins in broken legs!

Long time ago now but never actually got to see anyone there. Not sure if they really have an A&E. I think it may be just some sign’s and a door. (You know, like the gas chambers in the Second World War) In the end I sat with two broken ribs for longer than it would have taken to drive home, so rather than risk further trauma, I drove home and visited Tamworth Hospital the next day!

A good hospital but only limited A&E during day. We usually go there for physio but also on first name terms in x-ray.
The master stroke here is that because it’s a mining community they forget that normal people use cars, so no car park. Oh sorry the car park is there but half a mile away, just to make sure your broken leg gets total exercise. Think that’s harsh? Well even if you get an ambulance to the front door, if you are after physio it’s at the furthest area away from you. By the way don’t get confused by the car park over the road from the Hospital next door to the Council house that’s for totally fit Council workers.

Has any one ever found a parking space here? Is it possible to walk into the right area straight away?
Not bad really we think things are getting better although some facility’s seem to be in short supply. Stop by and visit possibly the longest corridor in a hospital in the UK.

Fantastic place but closed down now. Only small A&E but very good. Even sat you in the original surgeon’s chair. That always calmed you down. Well it has shut down but most of the staff went to ‘the other’ site in Lichfield.
Well worth a visit.

No A/E but If you have the cash you can have wine with your meal. Just watch that they don’t sell you some more surgery while you are there and don’t worry, if your trauma gets out of control Good Hope is only 15 minutes away. Food is good staff inclined to hand over begging letters.

Looks like an RAF camp but fantastic service. Acceptable waiting, was clean and staff competent and friendly. But more important, enthusiastic. Shame about the food but still better than some.

Oh no! If you find that you are in an ambulance travelling here try and kick the doors open and jump out. It’s worth taking a gamble that you may pick up extra injuries….. Who knows another ambulance may come along and take you to another hospital where you may survive.

Very friendly all seems ok. Short wait at A&E and soon moved through casualty. Even offered drinks to patients and snivelling supporters.
Good place to go.

Try to book in at A&E a week before you need them. This will ensure a short wait. Otherwise ask the ambulance to stop at a takeaway and buy two meals for yourself. This waiting area is where Tolstoy wrote War and Peace whilst waiting for a dressing. I know someone that went in here for a week to await an operation to be told on Friday ‘It looks better now, you can go home’. The injury is still a mess and he never got the operation, but he prefers to watch TV at home.

Good hospital with friendly staff plus real Tamworth men don’t wear underpants which is always amusing to watch in A&E or x-ray. Sorry girls but most real Tamworth men are over 50 and the first image you had in your mind when you read this does not represent reality. All good reports from this site plus interesting people visit.
Last time I was there I watched a Hells Angel type push his bike into the Hospital grounds and enter A&E in a terrible state after crashing down a hole a short way away. After treatment he was found to have a broken leg. When told he said ‘I think I did that last week when I fell off in the same hole’. No-one checked his underwear he wore them on his sleeve!

Sat in ward for four days with four other moto-cross riders who also just sat there with broken limbs. On Tuesday and Wednesday I was told that they could not repair my broken knee it would have to be locked up with a view to having a false knee fitted. On Wednesday afternoon I told them I had Medical Insurance on Friday another Doctor repaired the knee. Food was great. So is knee.
Staff and some Doctors are very good. I would go there again. Try it, you may enjoy it!
