Putoline XC Championship Grand Final |
 |
The survivors of the final round of the Putoline XC Championship all knew they had accomplished the near impossible by finishing a tough race in the worst possible conditions and anyone who did finish took away a real sense of pride and achievement. It was, without doubt, the toughest of the Putoline XC series and quite a mountain to climb at the end of a long season and credit must go to Paul Edmondson and his team for getting everyone through the race injury free.

The fourth and final round of the superb GBXC series ran at Ashby de la Zouch over the weekend. A huge entry on this virgin course saw Paul Edmondson take the top Pro spot with Darryl Bolter and Si Wakeley in hot pursuit.

Kent, the Garden of England, experienced some fantastic XC racing over the weekend as the Putoline XC Championship ran at Chattenden near Chatham. Local Power Station protesters provided an evening of fun, the Police put on a helicopter display and the Army an interesting dog display but nothing could overshadow the racing at this great venue. A full house at Shobdons Downwood Farm track witnessed the return of ex-Champion Gary Davies (73 above), who "Hadn't been on a bike for nearly four years!" Yeah, Right! He won the MX1 Experts. A snow covered Airfield Farm left the AMCA Sidecar Championship in disarray as, controversially,the status of the event was changed to a normal club meeting at the start of the day. Uproar and discontent amongst the majority of outfit riders who were there, leaving a few questions to be asked.

| Trials Terror at Tough One |

WOR Events Tough One at Nantmawr Quarry saw the fascinating spectacle of Trial Sprint winner Mike Brown (right) blow away virtually the whole field of riders in the Pro Event when he entered as a Wild Card.
He finished the first hour way out in front and collected £1000 prize from Steve Ireland. The Enduro riders breathed a sigh of relief as he withdrew from the race, as previously arranged.
Knighter (left) went on to win and retain his Tough One title as Taddy Blazusiak took second with Wayne Braybrook third Paul Edmondson fourth. Full report & Gallery
